Welcome to Our First eNewsletter

By admin | Blog | 5,239 comments | 16 May, 2019 | 0

Our entire dental team would like to offer you a very warm welcome to our first ever eNewsletter. We have had a lot of fun deciding what to include and hope you enjoy its contents.

Why an eNewsletter?

Often, we won’t see some of our patients for six months until it is time for their regular checkups. With your permission, an eNewsletter is an easy way for us to stay in touch with you in between your visits. We can update you on any new developments or treatments available here at One Smile. Also, you’ll find short, informative articles about other dental health matters and which include some useful tips. Our monthly recipe is seasonally oriented and is carefully selected for tastiness, so why not give it a go?

Your Family Oriented Dental Practice

Our patients are always our top priority, and you can rely on us to look after your family’s dental needs. We offer a comprehensive choice of dental treatments including preventative, general and cosmetic dentistry care. All three locations offer late-night appointments, and our Knox clinic opens seven days a week. When you need us, we are here to care for you.

Can My Parents Dental Health Affect My Dental Health?

By admin | Blog | 5,850 comments | 16 May, 2019 | 0

It’s easy to assume that dental issues can be inherited from your parents. To a certain extent, this is true, but they can be another reason for poor oral health.

When You Can Blame Your Parents

If your teeth are overcrowded or crooked, it’s almost certainly inherited because the shape and size of your mouth will influence the arrangement of your teeth. Unfortunately, if you have a history of oral cancer, your risk is likely to be higher.

We can help you with these issues as modern orthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry will often correct the arrangement of misaligned teeth, creating a more perfect smile that can be easier to keep clean. If close relatives have oral cancer, we can keep a close eye on you by carrying out more frequent screenings.

Of course, only a doctor can prescribe drugs after examining each specific case of disease and symptoms. If you are prescribed Soma (Carisoprodol) in the treatment process, then I recommend paying attention to him.

When Your Parents Aren’t to Blame

It’s easy to think that tooth decay and gum disease are inherited, but usually, they are a result of poor oral hygiene. Even if you didn’t learn how to take care of your teeth as a child, it’s never too late to start. Our dental team can provide regular dental checkups and cleanings, and we can also help you improve your oral hygiene routine at home.

Oral Tips for busy Mums

When you’re looking after everybody else, it’s easy to ignore your own oral health. With Mother’s Day this month, it’s the ideal opportunity to focus on your dental health. Often making a few simple changes will reduce your risk of dental problems including gum disease and tooth decay. During pregnancy, it’s even more critical to look after your oral care because hormonal changes can increase the risk of dental disease. Listed below are a few simple tips that take no time at all to follow.

  • Drink more water and keep a refillable bottle with you when you are out and about.
  • Pack a toothbrush and dental floss in your handbag or in the car so you can freshen up wherever you are.
  • When you need a snack, choose cheese or keep a stock of washed and prepared fruits and vegetables.
  • Using a fluoride mouth rinse at night will give your teeth a little extra protection.
  • If you do drink something sugary, use a straw to minimize contact with your teeth. These days you can buy environmentally friendly, reusable straws.
  • When you can’t brush, or floss, chew sugar-free gum with xylitol and which helps to kill disease-causing bacteria.
